Spring Training Conference 2026
I am a student at Moorpark College, and a member of the Circle K Club on campus (the volunteer club, essentially). They are part of a larger organization, under the Kiwanis Family. Under the “Starlight Division,” I am on the divisional team as the data anaylst. My main job is to analyze the stats provided by the various college clubs and find how we can extend our reach and raise our impact.
Recap
We arrived early, helped setup some of the tables, and once more of the attendees arrived, we wiped them all down and prepared for the day.
Josiah Anderson, the CNH District Governor (In charge of California, Nevada, and Hawaii’s CKI) gave us a warm welcome and plan for the day.
Block 1: Division and District 101 Workshop
This workshop (hosted by Josiah Anderson, Mikeil Ray Aya-Arsenio, and Alilah Mora De Jesus) went over the structure of the larger organization, as well as key roles, and increasing impact. I found this especially helpful as it was difficult to differentiate the various terms, between division, district, and clubs, where do they fall on the larger scale/in relation to each other.
Block 2: Service Project
From there, I had the opportunity to talk with various members and leaders while cleaning up the local community around Fullerton. I enjoyed the opportunity to network with my peers and get to know everyone! Special thanks to Nolan Turner and Max Robinson for hosting this block and project.
Block 3: The 4 Rs
Hosted by Raquel Kanalz and Adrian Tirado, we went over strategies for recruitment, retention, recognition, and revitalization. While my position isn’t directly doing any of those, they are good to know to cite to presidents when presenting their statistics to them!
Block 4: Icebreaker
Nolan Turner (Leader of my DLT, official title of Starlight Lieutenant Governor) held an icebreaker just as a last opportunity for everyone to get to know each other and get familiar, especially since we will all be working as a larger team to leave a lasting impact on our local communities.
Wrap Up
We adjourned and recapped the day, then the board did board dares (fundraiser) and members went home. It was an eventful day!
Final Thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend at STC, and appreciate the opportunity provided by CKI/the Kiwanis Family to network and connect with my peers, as well as learn strategies for success within my position this next term.
